PE and Sport Premium
What is PE and Sports Premium?
The PE and Sports Premium is extra funding given to schools by the government to help improve the physical health and wellbeing of children. Schools receive a basic amount of £16,000, plus an additional £10 for each pupil. This funding is used to help improve physical education (PE), encourage active lifestyles, and provide more sports opportunities for all children.
The PE and Sports Premium is ring-fenced, which means it can only be spent on PE and sports-related activities in the school. The aim is to make lasting improvements to the quality of physical education, provide more health-focused activities, and offer after-school sports clubs to encourage children to stay active.
A continuing success of using our PE and Sports Premium allocation that we are keen to develop further is the delivery of Forest schools. Currently Year 4 have been enjoying an ambitious and unique programme of study in Tregargus Valley, St Stephen. Forest School aims to promote the holistic development of all involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. Forest School offers our children the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.
