Dazzle Days

At St Dennis Primary Academy, we have six core values that are at the very heart of everything we do.

To show our commitment to these and highlight how important we believe them to be, we have ‘St Dennis Dazzle Days’ where children will develop their knowledge, understanding and skills through activities planned around promoting and enhancing these values.

These fortnightly days are a creative way of enriching our curriculum further and enabling our children to experience their learning in a way that challenges them and gives opportunities for all children to ‘dazzle’ us in so many different ways!

Half-termly whole school themes this year will include learning about St Dennis and Cornwall, Cornish myths and legends, carrying out an environmental project, cultural arts and ‘healthy me’.

We can’t wait to share what the children achieve on their ‘Dazzle Days’ here with you!

Autumn Term 1 - 'Cornwall, the Land I Love'

Autumn 2 - 'What can we learn from cultures from around the world?'

Spring Term 2 - Remote Learning

Following the suggestions and comments from the Parent and Carer Remote Learning Survey, an additional project, all about St Dennis, has been planned by Mrs Nash and Mrs Waters.

This whole school project fits in with our half termly ‘Dazzle Days’ and is something that siblings can work on together over the course of the half-term.

You can complete the activities in any order, pick the ones you like the best, or complete them all! You may have your own ideas of a project you'd like to work on - be creative!

Any learning or work created can be emailed to the office or class teachers in the usual way and it will be used to create a display in school.

We can't wait to see what you produce!

Summer 1 - Healthy body and healthy mind

For this half term, we focus on how to keep a healthy body and mind.  We learn more about feelings and how our bodies change when we feel a certain way.  We learn more about the Olympics and are physically active in competing in our own mini Olympics. We also try out orienteering around the new course in the new grounds!

Summer 2 - Why is caring for the environment essential for the future of our planet? What is the G7 and why is it so significant that it is in Cornwall this year?
