Our Vision for the Early Years Foundation Stage
At St Dennis Primary Academy it is our aim to create happy, resourceful, independent learners who thrive and achieve the best of their potential. We believe that all children are special and unique, and we endeavour to celebrate individual achievements and successes. In the EYFS we follow a carefully thought out curriculum plan and pupil interests. This creates an engaging and inspiring learning environment that promotes a love of learning and fosters independence and resilience.
We aim to ensure that children make better than expected progress from their individual starting points and plan carefully to prepare pupils for the transition into Key Stage One. Supportive learning environments and motivated, inspiring staff provide challenge and care.
Pupils within our Nursery and and Reception classes are immersed in a play based curriculum, with adult directed activities running alongside. This allows staff to model, reinforce previously taught skills and to move learning on in the moment. Children are able to explore and discover within the environment, following their own interests, as well as critical knowledge and skills needed to reach key milestones in their development.
