Stay Safe Mentors
Stay Safe Mentors
At St Dennis Primary School, we are very proud to work in partnership with ‘The Stay Safe Initiative’ - a local company set up to help educate and protect young people on the subjects such as:
- Anti-bullying
- Internet safety
- Personal safety
Each year, we train a group of our children to become ‘Stay Safe Mentors’. Our mentors are a small group of approachable and trustworthy children, from Year 5. The playground can be a daunting and scary place for children, so our mentors are taught the skills to assist and help children that may feel vulnerable or alone. Our Mentors are there to act as a support network for children that may, from time to time, encounter various issues and problems that arise in this environment. They promote equality in the playground by organising group games to include and encourage everyone to play and interact together. They are able to spot the signs and indicators of unkindness and liaise with staff to report any worries.
We have a display board by the door to the playground with photographs of our Stay Safe Mentors so they are familiar to the rest of the school.
