GDPR Privacy Notice

At St Dennis Primary Academy, we are committed to ensuring that personal information about your child is handled with care and in line with data protection laws. We need to store and process personal data about your child in both electronic and paper records to support their educational needs. The Headteacher is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of this data.

Please help us by keeping your child’s records up to date. If any of your child’s personal details change, such as contact information or medical needs, kindly inform the school promptly.

Access to Records: School staff who need access to your child’s records in order to carry out their duties are authorised to do so. Any staff member with access to personal data is trained on confidentiality and is legally required to protect your child’s information, ensuring it is accurate, secure, and up to date.

Data Security: We take all necessary precautions to safeguard the personal data we hold. Information about your child is stored securely, and we have measures in place to prevent any accidental loss, damage, or unauthorised access.

Sharing of Information: In some cases, we may need to share your child’s information with other professionals involved in their care, such as local authorities, health services, or educational support services. We will only do this when it is necessary and relevant to your child’s education or wellbeing.

There may be occasions when we are required by law to release information to official bodies, for example, in response to a court order or as part of a statutory requirement. In other cases, we will seek your written consent before sharing personal details, such as when information is requested for insurance purposes or by solicitors.

Protecting Your Child’s Privacy: We will not disclose any information about your child over the phone unless we are certain that we are speaking directly to you, the parent or carer. We will not share personal details with family members or friends unless we have your prior written consent, and we will not leave messages with third parties.

Your Rights: You have the right to access your child’s personal records. If you would like to review any of the information we hold about your child, please contact the school office to make an appointment. There is usually no charge for this service.

For further information on how we manage personal data, please contact the school.
